mini egg cornflake cakes

So yesterday I decided to get my baking head on and make these super quick and simple cornflake cakes. As most of you probably know, I'm an Erasmus student in Germany and yesterday there was a welcome meeting for all of the new people starting here for the summer term. The only request was to make something.. and seeing as I'm no Nigella, these seemed to be the perfect solution!

They are so quick and easy to make, and I'm pretty sure most people will know this recipe from childhood!

You will need:

50g butter
100g chocolate
3tbsp golden syrup
100g cornflakes
mini eggs optional

(I used triple the amount of ingredients as I wasn't sure how many cakes the original recipe would make and I knew I needed a lot. With trebled ingredients it made around 20 cakes.. and I may have accidentally eaten 3 or 4 before actually taking them to the meeting)
Melt the butter, chocolate and syrup in a saucepan on a very low heat (careful not to burn the chocolate)  and then simply tip the cornflakes in and stir. When all the cornflakes are covered, place the mixture into cake cases, add the mini eggs and leave in the fridge for a few hours to set and voila.. the perfect easter treat!

I actually couldn't find golden syrup here in Germany so I settled for the next best thing I could find which was some kind of caramel syrup and it worked perfectly. A yummy bundle of chocolatey, caramel, deliciousness!

They went down an absolute storm and I was getting praise left, right and center! *winning*

the big apple: 21st birthday celebrations and mini haul

I've been majorly slacking on the blogging front recently, in fact I haven't posted for 4 months because everything has been a bit crazy! But anyway, I'm back on the scene for the moment and I wanted to share my completely crazy and amazing trip to New York. I turned 21 last month and as it was the big 2.1 and all that jazz I decided there wasn't really a better way to celebrate than being completely outrageous and going to New York for 5 days.

Most of the time was spent shopping and partying, but we still managed to fit in some 'touristy' things too! Considering we were only there for 5 days we managed to fit in a hell of a lot including: a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, Lion King on Broadway (UH-MAZING and made me cry within the first 5 minutes), an amazing Thai restaurant in Brooklyn, Jay Z's sports bar, a rooftop bar with a view of the empire state on my actual birthday, and meeting Beyonce's stylist in Louis Vuitton - yes you read that right! Oh, and a Barney's sample sale! And of course, the mandatory visiting America breakfast of waffles with maple syrup and bacon, not to mention the daily (sometimes twice daily) visit to Starbucks.

Anyway, I thought I would share with you some of my latest additions as I did go a littttle bit wild. I mainly got cosmetics, I can't believe how cheap Origins and Clinique is in the states?! I got some bits from Victoria's Secret, some disco and riding pants in American Apparel and some Nike free run indoor training shoes (comfiest things ever!!) I also managed to get my little brother a Marc Jacobs iPad case in the Barneys sample sale! And not forgetting my Michael Kors purse which I love!
God Created the Woman Eyeshadow and Orgasm Illuminator

I was so happy that I came across this Caudalie set in Sephora, it retails at $35, with a $75 dollar value. Bargaaain! These are all products which I've wanted to try and I can safely say the exfoliator is one of the best things I've ever come across!

How cute is this miniature Flowerbomb?!

Spent a small fortune in MAC...
This Thai restaurant in Brooklyn called 'Sea' was just so pretty and the cocktails and food were so cheap!

And finally, what I wore...
Anyway that's enough, complete photo overload! Feel free to ask me any questions you have about New York, I'd be happy to answer!

berlin

I feel like I've been away from blogging for so long, not just my own but I haven't even had the chance to so much look at any blogs these past few weeks. My uni timetable is hectic and I'm basically running  around like a headless chicken most of the time. Uni days  here start at 8.15am and can end as late as 6.45pm, which to any student in the UK probably seems insane. Monday and Tuesday I have lectures ALL day so by the time I'm home I'm exhausted. Anyway enough self pitying I wanted to share some of my photos from the trip we made to Berlin this weekend. Enjoy :).

Berliner Dom

Altes Museum

Humboldt University

Brandenburg Gate

Chanel Little Black Jacket Exhibition

Berliner Mauer (Berlin Wall)

This was my first time to Berlin and it is definitely on a par with London and Paris in terms of eccentricity. It's full of beautiful buildings, art hidden away all over the city and trendy people everywhere you look which makes it so cosmopolitan and loveable. I'm hoping to go back again as there's so much to do! I won't bore you to death with details but feel free to ask me any questions if you're planning a trip there!

another blogger, another beanie

beanie;Primark necklace;Rock 'n Rose jacket;H&M old fur stole;New Look boots; ASOS

Okay so this is the third outfit post in a row I've worn a beanie but it's so cold outside who cares?! This one was about €4 in Primark and I love it! The necklace is from Rock 'n Rose and I was so happy when I saw they had brought old the gold version of it, purchased it straight away! Yay! Just a quick post today as I have so much uni work to be getting on with and my Mum & brother are coming to visit this weekend so I need to get a move on :).

christmas beauty wish list

I've seen so many Christmas wish lists around the blogosphere I couldn't resist the urge in creating my own. Christmas is one of those times when it's okay to spend obscene amounts of money on beauty and cosmetics, a time when it's okay to ask for that £40 Chanel eyeshadow palette, or for the £60 Dior perfume you've wanted for so long but otherwise haven't been able to afford.

I've created a little list of my 'most wanted' things; some basic and some I necessarily couldn't afford to buy for myself on a regular basis.

Christmas Beauty Wish List
Real Techniques travel essentials; eBay clear makeup organiser; Real Techniques blush brush; Origins morning to midnight set; Clinique makeup brush cleanser: Nars Limited Edition Edie gift set; REN glycolactic radiance renewal mask

1. Real Techniques is a brand I've been eyeing up for a while. I have read rave reviews about their brushes, and they are such an affordable price compared to some of the luxury brands. This set is the travel essentials and contains: the foundation, multi task and domed shadow brushes.

2. I've been in need of makeup organiser for a very long time. As I'm always flitting between home and University my makeup just lives in cosmetics cases and is kind of here there and everywhere. When I am home though this would just be the perfect addition to my dressing table to keep everything neat and tidy.

3. Another essential to any brush collection: the blush brush

4. Origins is one of those brands I've been meaning to try for such a long time, but there are just too many products to choose from! The Morning to Midnight set contains an intensive over night mask, eye cream, an SPF moisturiser and a full size night cream. This way you get to try a variety of products at a fraction of the price!

5. Imagine never washing your clothes but continuing to wear them, it's essentially the same with makeup brushes. They have to be washed regularly as they breed bacteria, and as disgusting as it sounds when you spend a lot of money on brushes what's the point in letting them get filthy and then spreading that all over your face. I know I am particularly bad at doing this so hopefully this  Clinique brush cleanser will remind me to!

6. I nearly cried when I saw this gift set (okay maybe a slight exaggeration) but Nars is a brand which I only started to use recently but absolutely love. Their products are so luxurious and long lasting and this colour palette is just a dream. Straight to the top of my wish list!

7. Last but not least, the famous REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask. This is another one of those products I've wanted to get my grubby mitts on for such a long time but couldn't quite justify spending that much money on my student budget. Another product with brilliant reviews everywhere you look. Hopefully santa will be kind!

Have you created any Christmas wish lists this year? Send me your links I'd love to see :).

tartan me up

bobble hat;H&M scarf;Urban Outfitters dress;H&M bag;Zara rings;Primark

I mentioned in my October wish list that I wanted to get my mitts on a tartan scarf and voila one tartan scarf. This one is actually from the men’s section in Urban Outfitters which my brother picked up and posted to me last week. It’s so soft and warm and perfect for throwing on with an all black outfit.

I also have this massive thing for bobble hats at the moment, possibly because the Germans are sensible and wrap up super well and I’ve followed suit and finally realised hats are warm! I always thought hats didn’t suit me, but in the past two weeks I’ve ended up with about five including this one ^^ and a neon green bobble one from Primark which I love! Hopefully I can get it in an outfit post soon.

Finally, I'd just like to say a huge thank you to the 55 people following me on google friend connect! 50 is kind of a milestone and I check each and every time I get a new follower and it really is so nice you actually want to read what I put on here. It's one thing forcing family and friends to read my blog (in the nicest way possible) but it's so amazing that you guys actually want to see what I have to say and leave comments. It means a lot!

and oh my god, sorry about the blurry photos, AGAIN!
